Relating to the Types of Plan and Eligibility

No, you must purchase the travel insurance before your departure from Hong Kong SAR.

No, you and your friend(s) and travel companions can enrol in to the same travel insurance policy.

For single trip plan: you can choose "Group" under "Cover Type" which allows up to 6 insured persons per policy.

For annual plan: you can choose "Couple" or "Family" under "Cover Type" which allows up to 10 insured persons per policy.

Annual Cover:

  • Period of insurance: one year from the Commencement Date or Renewal Date
  • Maximum coverage period for each journey is up to 90 days (inclusive of the date of departure)

 

Single Trip Cover: 

  • The maximum coverage period for Round Trip Plan is up to 180 days (inclusive of the date of departure). For One Way Plan, it is up to 72 hours (after the actual departure time from Hong Kong immigration control point)

No, the annual plan covers unlimited number of trips during the Period of Insurance, and the maximum coverage period for each journey is up to 90 days.

  • For Single Trip Cover: there is no age limit for the Insured Person.
  • For Annual Cover: the adult Insured Person must be aged between 18 to 75 years old, and Child(ren) must be aged at least 3 months old and under 18 years old on the Commencement Date or Renewal Date.

You may enrol in the Single Trip Cover with your passport number. However, if you wish to enrol in the Annual Cover, you must apply with and hold a valid Hong Kong Identity Card during the Period of Insurance. 

Relating to Medical Cover

“Pre-existing Medical Condition” means any sickness or injury of which, in the 6 consecutive months before the first day of the Period of Insurance, an Insured Person, Immediate Family Member, Travel Companion or Business Partner presented signs or symptoms, or for which, in the same period, such person(s) sought or received (or ought reasonably to have sought or received) medical treatment, consultation, prescribed drugs, advice or diagnosis by a Physician.

No, the policy does not cover any pregnancy-related issues.

Dental treatment is covered only if it is caused by accidental bodily injury and to teeth which were sound and natural before the accident. Dentures are not covered.

You must receive medical treatment overseas before you can claim reimbursement for any follow-up medical expenses upon your return to Hong Kong SAR.

Relating to Baggage or Personal Property Cover

No, property confiscated by governmental authorities is not covered.

Yes, but you must report to the local police or equivalent local law enforcement officials within 24 hours of the occurrence and provide written proof of your loss having been reported to such officials when you submit claims.

Luggage that is checked or mailed separately prior to the journey is not insured. Luggage must be transported by the public transport that also carries the Insured Person to be insured.

Relating to Trip Cancellation

Yes, this Policy covers this circumstance, provided that certifications issued by a doctor stating the health condition and the traveller being unfit to travel is accompanied with claims application.

In the event of:

  1. The sudden and unexpected death of an Insured Person, an Immediate Family Member, intended Travel Companion or Business Partner; or
  2. The Bodily Injury or Sickness of an Insured Person or an intended Travel Companion; or
  3. The Bodily Injury or Sickness of an Immediate Family Member or Business Partner; or
  4. The unexpected compulsory quarantine of an Insured Person; or
  5. The jury service of an Insured Person or an Insured Person being the subject of a witness summons; or
  6. The unexpected occurrence of a Strike, Riot or civil commotion at the planned destination of the journey; or
  7. Serious damage to the Insured Person’s Principal Home from fire, flood, earthquake or similar natural disaster; or
  8.  The unexpected issuance of a Black Alert at a planned destination.

The policy covers loss due to Trip Cancellation caused by covered events, however business obligations are excluded.

Coverages Relating to Cathay Members

No, registration is not required. However, Chubb may require you to provide your Cathay membership number or relevant supporting documents for proof when applying to claim these benefits.

Relating to Policy Administration or Renewal

To ensure that you can continue in enjoying worry-free travel and protection when travelling abroad, your policy will be renewed automatically on the expiry date and the premium will be debited from the provided credit card. The renewal conditions are subject to the terms and conditions of the policy wording. If you do not wish to automatically renew the policy, please notify Chubb upon receipt of the renewal notice.

  • For Single Trip Cover: the insurance cannot be cancelled and is non-refundable once issued; 
  • For Annual Cover: the Policyholder can cancel the policy at any time by providing prior written notice delivered or mailed to Chubb, provided no claim has been made during the Period of Insurance.  

In the event of such cancellation, Chubb shall be entitled to retain the customary short period rate for the time this policy has been in force up to the cancellation date, computed in accordance with the Short Period Rate Table. General Enquiry

Both Single Trip and Annual Cover plans offer emergency assistance services support. If the Insured is unfortunately injured in an accident, he/she may call the 24-Hour Chubb Assistance hotline for medical referral services and other assistances. If the Insured person requires emergency medical evacuation to another location or return to Hong Kong for appropriate medical treatment on the advice of a physician, Chubb Assistance will arrange for evacuation arrangements. In addition to the above service, Chubb Assistance 24-Hour emergency support hotline can also provide the following services:

  • Loss of luggage assistance;
  • Loss of travel document assistance; and
  • Embassy / interpreter referral, etc.

No. Both our single and annual trip cover plans do not have any deductibles.
